Football : International Champions Cup Wednesday 30th July 2014 – Kickoff time 01:00 After beating AS Roma 3-2 in their opening match now Manchester United will take on Inter Milan, who edged out Real Madrid in a penalty shoot out in their opening match. Both sides will be eager to win this match and claim top spot. After putting three goals past Roma in the first half, United failed to play the kind of football we are used to seeing when they almost allowed Roma to fight back for a point as the Italian side scored two goals. Louis van Gaal’s side did win 3-2 but he was not happy with his side particularly the display of playmakers Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Shinji Kagawa for their poor performances. Against Roma, Rooney scored two goals while Mata scored once and Rooney will no doubt be the favourite to get on the scoresheets again. Besides beating Roma 3-2 Manchester United also did beat LA Galaxy 7-0 in a pre-season friendly so it has been two wins out of two for van Gaal now. Now he needs his players to be more committed as only Wayne Rooney seems to be giving his full commitment. The Red Devils do have a good record against Inter Milan as they are unbeaten in four previous competitive matches against the Italian side. United have managed two draws and two wins from those four meetings so they should at least win this match and make it three wins out of three for van Gaal's side. Meanwhile, Inter Milan took the game to Real Madrid and were rewarded for it. After Gareth Bale scored the opening goal for Real Madrid, Inter Milan equalized from the penalty spot on the 70th minute mark. It ended 1-1 and Inter were victorious in the penalty shootout. Inter Milan did not give their best against what was largely a Real Madrid reserve side. Inter Milan is likely to rely on set pieces to threaten United's goal but other then that they best they can hope for is a draw, but United should win this match once again. | ||
